The idea began during a real-life visit to a Jamaican tax office. While waiting in line, founder K. Shakes watched an elderly gentleman struggle to access his records online. After helping him navigate the system from a phone, one thing became clear: important information and online services should not feel this difficult to use.
As a Jamaican-born property owner living in the United States, K. understands the frustration of trying to manage property, documents and important responsibilities from thousands of miles away. Her more than 25 years of experience in social services and community-focused work also taught her how to simplify complicated information and help people understand their next steps.

As a Jamaican property owner living overseas, K. has personally navigated Jamaican property, government and online systems from abroad. She understands how frustrating it can be to locate accurate information, determine the proper steps and manage important responsibilities from another country.
Through Island Breeze Jamaica, she combines her professional experience, personal knowledge and connection to Jamaica to create practical resources for Jamaicans at home and abroad.
Outside of her professional and creative work, K. enjoys spending time with family, gardening, photography, traveling and exploring Caribbean life and culture.
